Vikehornet rises above the centre of Syvde and offers a view of the Syvdsfjord. You can also see most of the mountains in Vanylven. The skiing route from Nordalen to Vikehornet is long but covers relatively easy terrain.
The ski trip to Vikehornet starts from Nordalen. Follow the mountain road for about 3.3 km towards Lake Kvanndalsvatnet. About 500 m before the lake, turn right up the mountainside towards Lake Skoravatnet. Ski along either the south or the north side of Skoravatnet and continue in the direction of the Sandfjelldalen Valley via the lowest point in the terrain. From there, go down to Sandfjelldalen where you turn right and continue north along the valley aiming for the lowest point between Sandfjellegga and Nyklen. From up here, Vikehornet will be right in front of you. You are now at the highest point on the route. Continue northwest straight to the top. You will have a descent of about 200 altitude metres down to the plateau before Vikehornet and an ascent of about 100 altitude metres to the peak. As the mountain road gradually becomes free from snow in spring, you can drive further up, which will make your ski trip correspondingly shorter.
Take County Road 652 (FV652) to Syvde, turn off to Nordal on the northeast side of the centre of Syvde, and drive into the Nordalen Valley for as long as possible.
Park your car at the furthest point of Nordalen. Alternatively, there are parking spaces along the mountain road.
