On your way to Sandslegene and a gapahuk shelter called Legebu, you will follow a well-prepared tractor road the entire time. After an ascent at the beginning, it is flat.
Route description
The destination of this trail, Sandslegene, is a hill on the sunny side of a plateau above Sande, on the south side of Sandsøya Island. A mountain road will take you all the way from Skare to the gapahuk shelter Legebu. The trail post is located by the gapahuk, about 1.7 km from the car park in Skare. One would think that the wind from the southwest blew here almost all the time, but the area is in fact not so windy.
Sandslegene gets a lot of sun every day all year round, given that the weather is clear. From here, you will get a fantastic panoramic view – from the Sunnmørsalpane mountain range in the east, the mouth of Vanylvsfjord and the Nordfjord in the south, to the Stad Peninsula in the west. In the north, a steep mountain side goes straight up to Rinden. In addition to the mountain road from Skare, you can also take a marked path from Bringsvoren to get here.
