Øygardsneset Loop Trail

This trail is perfect as both a fitness walk and a family hike in quiet surroundings. Right at the starting point, take a walk in the amazing park that belongs to the Bioforsk Økologisk Competence Centre and is located right next to the car park above the main building. You will see some simple exercise equipment for strength and balance training just after the start of the trail. One you reach the trail postbox, you can also choose to walk to the Øygardsneset Spit that offers great opportunities for fishing. You will also get a great view over the fjord.

Start from the car park and walk up the first road. Go left through the boom gate and continue following a solid gravel road/cart track for 1.5 kilometres until you reach a gate where you will find the trail postbox. The trail up to the postbox is stroller-friendly and suitable for wheelchair users with helpers. At this point, you can choose to go back to the starting point, walk a steep path down to the Øygardsneset Spit, or continue up to the right following a loop trail. The loop trail and the path down to Øygardsneset are not suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. Loop trail:From the trail postbox, walk up onto a solid path that goes to the right. It will be steep at first, but the path flattens out quickly. After 1.1 kilometres along the path, you will reach National Road 70 (Rv 70) which runs down towards Tingvoll. As you walk further, you will come to an asphalt road exit which is marked with a green arrow. Turn down Gunnars Road here and follow the road back to the starting point.

Drive to the centre of Tingvoll. Turn off towards the nursing home and drive past Tingvoll Upper Secondary School on your left-hand side. You will come to the junction of Stjernehusvegen Road and Gunnars Road. You will see a sign that reads “Velkommen til Tingvoll gard” (Eng. “Welcome to Tingvoll Gard”) at the junction. Drive down Gunnars Road for a little while and park your car in front of the the Bioforsk administration building. If the car park is full, drive further down and park your car by the church.
