The trail at a glance

The trail up to the Ørnhamaren cliff is a great natural experience. Once you are up by Lake Megardsvatnet, you will see a number of great spots to sit down and take a short break before the real climbing begins. There is a nice place for a fire down by the lake. Later you will come across Megardssetra, a well-preserved old summer mountain farm. Up at the top of Ørnhamaren you will get a fantastic view over Megardsvatnet, Skålvikfjorden, Vinjefjorden and Mount Tustna in the background!

Route description

You can park you car near the first boom gate along the Megardsetervegen road. For those who would like to take a shorter walk, it is also possible to drive all the way up to the end of the road. You will have to pay a toll fee in this case. From the end of Lake Megardsvatnet the route will take you through an old summer mountain farm called Megardssetra. It is an incredibly beautiful place! The ascending part begins once you have reached the foot of Ørnhamaren. Walk up the tractor road that later changes into a path. The climbing might feel a bit hard, but you will reach the top very soon!
