Toward Brattåsen
Kristiansund
This scenic ski trip covers gentle terrain with groomed ski trails. You will start by following an illuminated ski trail, but we recommend wearing a head torch if you are skiing in the evening. This trail is suitable for everyone in spite of the gradual ascent up to the Stikk Ut trail postbox which makes your return trip down the hill even more exciting. It might be too difficult for the youngest children, but there are many nice spots to take a rest on both sides of the ski trail. If you want a longer ski trip, you can continue following the prepared track further toward Harpskaret (Kvalvåg) from the trail postbox. You will see many nice places to take a rest along the way near the Svartlibekken Brook and the marshy area Ivarplassdammen. This area is only a couple of hundred metres away from the trail postbox. It can also be a point where you decide to turn around and start a return trip. This is a “there and back” ski trip where you follow the same route back to the starting point.
From the car park in Prestmyra, go to the signboard which is the starting point of the trail. Note that this trail starts at the opposite side of the road in relation to the starting point of the trail to Freikollen. Turn left at the sign for Hysåsen after about 80 metres and follow the illuminated ski trail until you come to an intersection of trails. Take the left turn and follow the prepared ski track all the way to the trail postbox. The ski tracks are prepared along a wide and well-maintained forest road that runs into the Freimarka area. The landscape will open up as you approach the trail destination, and you will see small hilltops like Brattåsen and Hysåsen. The area gets a lot of sunshine on clear winter days.
The trail starts at the car park near the illuminated ski trail in the Prestmyra area. From the Krifast road system, follow National Road 70 (RV70) towards Kristiansund. After you have passed Storbakken, you will see a car park on the right side of the road. From the centre of Kristiansund, follow National Road 70 (RV70) towards Frei. After you have passed Lake Bolgvatnet, you will see a car park along the left side of the road. There is parking space on both sides of the road.
A large designated public car park is located in Prestmyra. It is possible to park your car on both sides of RV70. Free parking. This ski trip starts along the illuminated ski trail.
