This trail is a wonderful hiking opportunity for the residents of Liabø, the centre of Halsa municipality, and the area nearby. The trail follows both an asphalt road, a gravel road, and a path, and there are slight ascents at some sections. Once you reach the Stikk UT postbox, you will get a fantastic view over Liabø with Tussan and Saksa mountains as well as Skålvikfjorden in the background. This trail is well suited for people of all ages. Parts of the trail are suitable both for electric wheelchair users and people with baby carriages.
Route description
Start walking from the car park in front of the “Rasteplassen” restaurant. Walk across E39 and down to the Haugan residential area following the path that goes alongside the bus shelter. Follow the road through the residential area until it ends at the old road in Liabø. Take the turn to the right and follow this old cart track until it crosses the national road and changes into a gravel road on the other side. Follow this gravel road for 200 metres until you see a sign to Liabø (turn right). Follow the forest road for the next 600 metres as it climbs steeply up the hill. Forestry works are taking place in the area up there, so the road is muddy. Walk across the Utistuvegen road and continue following the hillside. You will find the Stikk UT trail postbox midway between the Utistuvegen and Liabøvegen roads near the remains of old buildings in Persetunet. From here, continue walking towards Liabøvegen and follow it down towards E39 and the car park.If you would like to walk a bit longer, you could go to Kletten and back onto the gravel road that changes into a path.
