The trail at a glance
NB! In 2017 the Stikk Ut trail postbox was removed from the bridge on the outer part of the coastal path and installed near the grill cabin in the forest at the foot of Gulberget! The coastal path along the foot of Mount Gulberget is finally ready, and you can enjoy a great looped trail through the forest at the foot of Gulberget, along the open sea with its wonderful coastal culture and through the centre of Bud. On this stretch of the trail you will also find a nice grill cabin built by the Bud Vel organisation. It is open to public. Bud Vel welcome everybody to enjoy the cosiness of the cabin while taking a break from the trail, provided that the visitors clean up after themselves and leave the cabin the way they found it.It is also possible to go up Mount Gulberget from the Coastal Path. It is a marked path with the starting point to the south of the grill cabin.
Route description
The trail follows a good path, gravel road and some asphalt. We recommend that you start the trail from the sports ground / community house in Bud. There is plenty of parking space here. The trail starts from the innermost corner flag of the old football pitch to the right of the community house. It is easy to find your way. We recommend that you take a walk along the foot of Mount Gulberget first. You will then reach the grill cabin. After passing the grill house and the forest you will have to walk across the main road and continue along the outer coastline and then walk through the centre of Bud back to the starting point. If you choose to go clockwise following the path along the seaside first, do not forget to take the turn to the right just before “Kjekså” where the path splits. Here the path runs through a construction site and crosses the national road right afterwards.NB! Note that even though the level of difficulty assigned to this trail is “green”, the path could still be difficult to follow on a wheelchair. The path is too narrow and uneven at times which is not particularly suitable for wheelchair users. The most baby carriages should be able to manage the trail.
This is a looped trail so it is possible to go back to the place where you parked your car, regardless of whether it is in the centre, at the sports ground or near Fuglefjellet mountain in Ergan.
Arrival and parking
There are several options for a trail start.
We recommend that you park you car near the Bud community house / the artificial grass football pitch which is just off the centre of Bud, as described above.
The hiking trail that goes north towards the forest and the grill cabin starts from the flag in the innermost corner of the old grass football pitch, to the right of the community house. It is easy to find your way. If you want to follow the trail clockwise starting from the camping place, simply walk across the road and down near Bud Camping. We were hiking with a normal walking speed and it took us about an hour and a half to complete the trail.
You can also park your car just below “Bergan” near the “Bryggjen i Bud” restaurant. There is a large car park here. A toilet building will also be available here soon.
Sports ground by the community house / football pitch, just past the burial ground. It will be on the right side of the road if you are coming to Bud from the direction of Elnesvågen / Molde.

Other
There are plenty of cultural sights in Buaværet which the trail passes by.
Some of them are signposted while others are still untouched. Ergan and Bud Museum offer their visitors a lot of interesting descriptions of these. We recommend taking a tour there.
If you walk up to the top of Gulberget, this is what you get to experience there: http://360.io/jjp7xh
