Kyrfjellet – Seten – Route 56
Vanylven
If you start this hike from Øverberg, you will walk right into an area which was used for summer mountain farming until about 1950. As you continue further up (Falketua), a fantastic view of the Syvdefjord and the valleys Saurdalen and Røfsdalen will open up. In good weather, you can also see the Stad Peninsula, the Sunnmørsalpane mountain range, and Nordfjord. You will also get to enjoy the dramatic view of the farms in the Saurdalen Valley (see the photo).
The end point of the trail if you walk from Øverbeg is when you meet the forest road above Brekke.
The end point of the trail if you walk from Brekke is the car park by the ski resort Øverberg Skisenter.
If your starting point is the car park in Øverberg, walk across the stone bridge over the river. Continue over flat terrain for about 1 km towards a cabin by Moldstigen. This section of the trail partially follows an old farm road. Begin a gentle ascent through the birch forest along the river until you reach Vorskår. Walk north in the direction Seten when you see a sign at N 62` 01 E:05` 42. Once you reach Vorskår, walk northeast along the ridge until you meet the forest road above Brekke. The section of the trail down from Kyrfjellhornet is a little steep but easy to walk.
If your starting point is Myklebust, drive to Brekke and turn left up the forest road at the first cattle grid in the direction of Saurdalen. After about 1 km along the forest road, you will come to a signpost (parking space). This is where you start walking towards Seten. Follow the trail from Øverberg described above in the opposite direction.
If you start from Øverberg: take the county road from Syvde towards Saurdal (6 km). Drive along a municipal road (gravel) for about 2 km in the direction of Øverberg.
