Kleppen, Folkeparken

Folkeparken in Gomalandet is one of the most visited recreational areas in the municipality with both beaches and fishing spots. There is also a football pitch, a ski trail and a ski slope in the area. The destination of this trail is Kleppen, the hill that lies in the northeast of Folkeparken facing the ocean. On your way to the Kleppen hill, you will walk through Lasken. You will see a nice small beach and a boathouse here. The boathouse in Lasken has recently been renovated. It is managed by the Atlanten Lower Secondary School. The boathouse is beautifully located in the bay. You will walk past several fishing spots on your way to Kleppen. Once you reach the top of the Kleppen hill, you will get a great view over Talgsjøen towards Grip, Smøla and Tustna. On a beautiful clear evening, you can watch the sun setting into the ocean. In nasty weather, it is also great to watch the waves crashing on the land and covering the rocks.

The trail starts from the Atlanten Upper Secondary School. Follow the sign from here down to Lasken and further to Kleppen. Once you reach the boathouse in Lasken, take a moment to enjoy the view and breathe in the sea air before you continue following the path further to Kleppen. The path will take you further north and offer a view of the ocean on your right-hand side.

Folkeparken in Kristiansund municipality is located in Gomalandet. The trail starts behind the Atlanten Upper Secondary School along Dalaveien road. If you are driving from the centre of Kristiansund, follow the sign to “Atlanten Idrettspark/Atlanterhavsbadet” (“Atlanten Sports Park”) and then to “Atlanten Videregående Skole” (“Atlanten Upper Secondary School”). If you are coming from Frei, drive up to the roundabout by the Atlantic Ocean Tunnel. From here, follow the same sign to Atlanten Sports Park/Atlanten Upper Secondary School. Drive along the road past the Atlanten Upper Secondary School which will be on your left until you see a gravel-surfaced hiking trail which goes to the right between the spruce trees. You will see a sign to both Lasken and Kleppen.

You can park your car next to the Atlanten Sports Park, Atlanten Lower Secondary School or Atlanten Upper Secondary School.
