The trail to the Karistova cabin has a steady ascent but is short, which can be good for an afternoon hike or a Sunday walk with children, perhaps with a stop by Peridotplassen (The Peridot Square) in Sundalen.
Route description
Begin by walking from the car park to the opposite side of the road. The trail follows a gravel that steadily ascends the entire time. There is a little less gravel at the end of the road, but you will still walk on solid surface along the entire trail. The end point of this hike is Karistova, an old cabin with a view over parts of the valleys.
Access and parking
To get to the starting point, drive from Fiskå, turn left from County Road 61 (FV61) at the junction in Åheim and follow Løvoldveien Road. Drive straight ahead at the junction in Gusdalen and continue towards Sundalen. The starting point of the trail is just before the steep slope, and you will find space for several cars on the opposite side of the road where you can park.
