Grøthornet

Grøthornet is a small peak with a great view over the ocean and the islands in Sande Municipality. You will also have a view of the mountains of Vanylven, Mount Veten, and Lake Morkavatnet. The Larsnes Sports Association (Larsnes IL) has a trail post on the peak.

You can reach Grøthornet both from Drageskaret and Larsnes. From Drageskaret: begin walking from the highest point of Drageskaret and follow the path southeast over the marshes in the direction of Lake Svartevatnet. The path splits in two when it is about to go uphill. Turn right at the sign for Grøthornet and follow the path south. Cross the river, climb up the mountain ridge, and follow the path until you reach the peak. From Larsnes: begin walking from the middle of the Råkja residential area where you will see the sign for Grøthornet. Follow a narrow road towards Kvalen for 60 m. Once you come up that road at the point where it crosses the river, turn left and walk up through the forest. The path here follows a fence between two fields. The path will eventually go across the field and follow a tractor road through the forest. From there, continue following the path over the marshes and up to another forest. Here, the path will take you along the edge of the forest almost until the forest ends. Then the path turns into the forest and goes west until it reaches the top. All junctions of this route are signposted. If you want to go over the mountains all the way from Larsnes to Drageskaret (or vice versa), you can use the old road between Larsnes and Drageskaret as a return route. From Drageskaret: park your car along County Road 61 (FV61), at the highest point of Drageskaret, between Gursken and Larsnes. From Larsnes: turn off County Road 61 (FV61) at the junction north of the centre of Larsnes at the sign pointing to the nursing home and the church. Drive for 650 m and turn left before the vicarage. Drive for about 250 m up the Råkja residential area. This is where the trail starts. If you are driving from Drageskaret, park your car at the top of the road. If you are driving from Larsnes, park by the road in the Råkja residential area.
