Fremste Haumyra, Illuminated Ski Trail in Hauane, Løvoll

This illuminated ski trail through Hauane starts in Løvoll. The trail runs through a popular outdoor area which is suitable for both winter and summer activities. As you ski through the area, you will be surrounded by the West Norwegian Fjord Landscape, the UNESCO’s world heritage area. The Folkestien Trail runs here as well, and there is a Sami hut in the area. The route there is signposted.

The starting point of the trail is in Løvoll, Eidsdal. You can park your car by the clubhouse. Follow the illuminated ski trail as it runs down a small hill and over the marsh to the west. Continue up the slope and along the trail as it turns south. Follow the lampposts and keep to the left. This way you will follow the direction of the trail and avoid meeting other skiers that might run downhill straight towards you. The trail runs through hilly terrain until it reaches the entrance area of Hauane, then it swings back and follows the highest section of the hill ridge. The destination of this trail is at the highest point of the long ascending section after you have turned back in the direction of Løvoll (north). It is named after Fremste Haumyra, the area just north of the destination point. If you want to do a nice loop trail and still keep moving in the direction of the ski trail, follow the trail to the north as it takes you over the marsh and then up a hill before a long downhill slope to Skarmyra. You will then be on your way back to the starting point and can ski down the final slope to the clubhouse and the car park. Once you reach Hauane, we encourage you to visit the Sami hut and Laupen, the highest point on Hauane. The route to these two destinations is signposted from the highest point of the illuminated ski trail, about 300 metres north of the trail postbox. Feel free to take a break and enjoy this amazing natural setting that is on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Please leave the Sami hut better than you found it – remember to clean before you go. Park your car next to the clubhouse in Løvoll. The trail starts just next to the garage for the snow grooming machine/spruce field south of the car park. If you are coming from the centre of Eidsdal/ferry terminal, drive for about 10 km up to Lake Eidsvatnet (towards Geiranger). Turn off towards Kleiva (signposted) and drive for about 2 km up to the highest point of the road. The clubhouse is on the right side of the road about 100 metres past a farm.
