This scenic ski trail takes you to Bøstølen and further up to a cabin called “For Fattig og Rik” (Eng. “For Rich and Poor”). The ski trail is usually groomed before the start of a weekend. Occasionally, there is a groomed track from the opposite direction that runs to the mountain farm Pusken and around Mount Kammen.
Leave your car at the car park in Hersla (toll road). It is normally open during every weekend in winter. Early in the season and if there is little snow, the road is cleared by a snowplough all the way up to Bøstølen. In that case, the trail starts at the car park after Bøstølen. The length of the trail is then reduced to 2.5 km one way with the ascent of 210 m.
Follow the groomed ski trail from the car park in Hersla along the summer road. After Lake Berildvatnet, the ski trail swings to the right and runs over a flat area to avoid snowdrifts coming from Mount Gammelstølsfjellet. There may be drifts of loose snow here in winter and snowdrifts that go all over the road in spring. After skiing along the river for a little while, go over the bridge on your right and turn left towards Bøstølen. You will have to do some climbing to get to Bøstølen itself. Follow the road after Bøstølen and go down to the left to cross the bridge. Turn right after the bridge, continue past Røsta mountain farm and ascend the hill until the terrain flattens out as you enter the Storvassreset area on your way to the Fattig og Rik Cabin.
When conditions allow, there is usually a common network of groomed ski trails that includes Stordal. The ski trails meet at Lake Storvatnet. Additionally, ski trails are groomed from both Innfjorden and Stordal to their corresponding ends of Lake Litlevannet. Snow groomers do not run over the lake, but the residents of Innfjorden often drive snowmobiles there. You can use the tracks they make to do a nice loop trail around Mount Kammen.
