Dyrdalstinden is the favourite mountain for many residents of the Langsætrane area. The mountain lies in the Dyrdalen valley, which is where it got its name from. The trail involves quite steep climbing and an open section at the top. You will get a fantastic view of Langsætrane summer mountain farms and the mountains all around.
Start walking from the car park near the Puskebrua Bridge and go straight ahead through the Pusken summer mountain farm. Walk along the road that turns left around a stone fence. You will reach the bridge across the Dyrdalselva river. Walk over the bridge, turn right and follow the path on the left side of the river. This is the same path that you can use to get to Dyrdalen. It is easy to follow this well-trodden path. Once the terrain slightly flattens out, turn off in the direction of Mount Dyrdalstinden which is visible on your left-hand side. You will soon walk above the tree line. Continue walking along the edge up towards the top. It is okay to walk here, but peeping over the edge of the mountain will give you a thrill. As you continue walking, there will be more rocks on the surface. There is an open section right before the cairn which can seem too steep and unsafe for some hikers. If it does not feel safe for you, please skip these last metres. Please also watch out for glaciers and snowdrifts during the early summer.
Drive in the direction of Overøye past the alpine resort. Follow the road straight ahead and park your car before the bridge that leads to Pusken.
You can park your car near the Puskebrua Bridge. The parking fee is 50 NOK (automatic).
